Intergenerational HousingThe FRDC Intergenerational housing development project will address a low to moderate income housing market niche that is unique, badly underserved, and heavily strained by circumstance. The project will provide housing for 40 families of grandparents who have legal custody of their grandchildren. Presently, there are only six housing developments nationwide that have been specifically designed to address the housing needs of grandparents or kin who are raising their grandchildren. None exist in Ohio or the Great Lakes Region. The project is a mix of two, three and four bedroom townhomes designed in clusters. The design of the project is the result of a national design competition sponsored locally by the McGregor Foundation and has been in the planning stages for over three years. It will be located on Central Avenue between East 80th and East 83rd Streets and construction is expected to begin in 2010. |
